As the COVID-19 situation continues, Hamilton rock band Arkells has delivered a special message for the city’s health workers.

In a video posted today, Arkells vocalist Max Kerman gave a shoutout to everyone in the city’s public health department for working overtime during this pandemic.

“I know there’s a lot of people that are relying on you, asking a lot of questions, and I know you have gone above and beyond,” Kerman said.

“Thank you very much for being there for our community. Without you we’d be lost.”

Kerman then strums his guitar and sings the hook from the hit Arkells song Leather Jacket, which he says is relevant to the current situation.

“That song is about calling a friend up when you’re in trouble, and that’s what we’re all doing with you right now,” Kerman said.

Recently, the band has also been taking this opportunity to reach out to its fans and all music lovers by offering live music tutorials from the Arkells songbook via Instagram.

“Spread the word!” they said. “Let’s jam together (in our respective bedrooms).”
