Just when you thought they couldn’t get any nicer, the Arkells reach new heights of civic-mindedness and generosity.

Just when you thought they couldn’t get any nicer, the Arkells reach new heights of civic-mindedness and generosity.

In an effort to reach out to music lovers and fans and to promote safe social distancing amid the COVID-19 crisis, the band started offering live tutorials via Instagram to teach budding musicians some of the Arkells’ songbook.

“Spread the word!” they say in one Instagram post. “Let’s jam together (in our respective bedrooms).”

The first sessions, taught by frontman Max Kerman, were held over the weekend and featured the songs ‘And Then Some,’ and ‘A Little Rain,’ the latest tutorial was hosted Monday (March 16) and covered the hit ‘Leather Jacket.’

The sessions, called Flatten the Curve Music Class, are being well-received by musicians and fans who, in this time of uncertainty, are embracing the distraction with gusto and positivity.

“I love these music classes. I don’t even play guitar, but I love watching and listening to you. Can’t wait to see the rest of the boys, too!,” said one Instagram user.

Another wrote: “This is actually really thoughtful. Thank you! Can’t wait to see what else you post!”

On behalf of Hamiltonians and music fans everywhere, thanks, guys. The care and thought you put into connecting with our community do not go unnoticed.

Stay healthy and safe everyone!
