A young woman from Flamborough is Hamilton’s fifth driving fatality of 2020, Hamilton Police say.

On Saturday (April 25), shortly after 5:30 p.m., a single-vehicle collision occurred on a private property on Harvest Road just east of Ofield Road South, Hamilton Police say in a press release issued Monday (April 27).

A 24-year-old Flamborough woman was driving an ATV with her 21-year-old sister as her passenger.

Police say the vehicle lost control and fell down a ridge causing both women to fall approximately 10 metres.

Hamilton Police, Paramedic Services and Fire responded to the collision and transported the 24-year-old driver to the hospital with serious injuries.

The 21-year-old passenger, police say, was found to be non-responsive and unfortunately succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

At this time, police say they believe speed was not a factor in this collision and the investigation remains ongoing.

Police have determined the appropriate safety equipment was used during the incident.
