Warrant issued for suspect in BB gun shooting in Hamilton

Hamilton Police issued a warrant Tuesday (Nov. 12) for the arrest of a man wanted in connection to a shooting over the weekend.

Daniel McDermott, police say, is wanted in relation to an incident that happened early Saturday morning that sent a man to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said that shortly after 2:00 a.m. Saturday, an altercation broke out between two males in the area of Cannon Street East and Huntley Street.

One man was shot in the face with a BB gun. He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Through investigation, a Hamilton man was identified as the suspect in the incident.

McDermott, 22, is wanted in relation to the incident and he is considered armed and dangerous. Police warn the public to not approach McDermott and to contact 911 immediately.

McDermott faces charges of:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Utter threats to cause death
  • Possession of weapons dangerous to the public
  • Fail to comply probation
