Officers are continuing to investigate a serious incident that was reported around 4:00 p.m. this afternoon.

Officers are continuing to investigate a serious incident that was reported around 4:00 p.m. this afternoon.

“Members of the Hamilton Police Service responded to a 911 call in the area of Holton Ave. South and Main St. East for an assault that involved the use of a knife,” police say.

The victim, a 27 year old man, was treated at the scene and taken to hospital where he currently remains in stable condition.

Due to the nature of the incident, the Emergency Response Unit was deployed and crisis negotiators have been called in to assist.

Holton Ave. South, south of Main St. East, remains cordoned off as the investigation continues.

Police are asking the public to stay out of the area until further notice.
