The investigation into a recent fatal shooting in Hamilton is underway.

Just before 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, officers responded to reports of a male suffering from gunshot wounds in the area of 334 East 14th Street on the Hamilton Mountain.

Police say they arrived on scene four minutes after the 911 call and located the male victim on the ground of the apartment complex’s parking lot. He was transported to Hamilton General Hospital by ambulance.

“Medical staff continued the life-saving attempts, however, the 44-year-old male victim was pronounced deceased just before 11:30 p.m,” Hamilton police said. “This marks the city’s 6th homicide of the year.”

There is currently no suspect description and police say the victim’s name will not be disclosed at this time.

“Investigators have briefly spoken with the victim’s family, however, they require time to notify other next of kin,” said police.

Officers have contained the crime scene in the parking lot and will be in the area for most of Sunday canvassing for any potential video of the incident.

Residents who live in the immediate area police are asked to check their video surveillance between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 11:20 p.m. on Saturday for anything “unusual or suspicious.”
