Two shootings that occurred in Hamilton over the weekend have prompted a pair of investigations.

In the first shooting on March 2, a fight broke out between a large group at Faces Cafe and Bar shortly after 1:30 a.m. The bar sits at 1123 Main St E. by Gage Park.

During the fight, an unidentified man pulled a gun and fired a shot into the air, Hamilton Police say. Investigators later found a single shell casing.

The next day, police responded to a mischief call near Centre Rd. and Concession Rd. 6 E. in Flamborough. Reports indicated a firework had been set off and a car quickly fled the scene. The car left two men behind when it fled.

When officers arrived they found two men in their 20s who were allegedly trying to sell marijuana vape pens. The pair told police an unknown number of suspects had surrounded their car and pointed guns at them.

They said the group ordered them out of the car. The pair heard a loud bang and ran away. The suspects then fled in a white Honda Civic with the license plate CMAT-455. Investigators later confirmed a shot was fired thanks to the discovery of a shell casing.

No one was hurt in either incident.

“These incidents are independent of each other and are currently under separate investigations,” police wrote. “Detectives will continue to investigate, seeking video footage to establish suspect descriptions in both cases. If you possess commercial or residential video that may assist please contact detectives.”
