A hotel drug bust in East Hamilton has resulted in the arrest of two men who now face a slew of trafficking and weapons charges.

A hotel drug bust in East Hamilton has resulted in the arrest of two men who now face a slew of trafficking and weapons charges.

In June of 2020, Hamilton Police say they began a drug investigation into illicit drug activity at local hotels.

Their investigation ultimately led them to a suspect they believed was dealing large amounts of illicit narcotics, police said in a press release issued Tuesday (June 23).

Last Friday (June 19), police say they obtained a search warrant related to a hotel room located at a hotel in the area of the QEW and Centennial Parkway North.

A short time later, police were in the hotel parking lot observing the suspect’s vehicle. They say they saw the suspect and a second man inside this vehicle and eventually both men were arrested without incident.

A search of one of the men revealed he was in possession of illicit drugs and the second man was in possession of cash, the release says.

A search of the vehicle also recovered a number of illicit drugs and two prohibited weapons.

Hamilton Police Vice and Drug investigators then attended the hotel room where the suspect was staying and executed the search warrant. Inside, police located illicit drugs, cash and additional evidence to support drug trafficking.

Police say the investigation resulted in the seizure of over $29,000 in cash and illicit drugs with a street value of $82,580.

The two men were taken into police custody and appeared for a bail hearing on Saturday, June 20, 2020.

Police seized:

  • Fentanyl valued at $39,000
  • Methamphetamine valued at $24,750
  • Cocaine valued at $15,800
  • Oxycodone pills valued at $900
  • GHB valued at $2000
  • Hydromorphone pills valued at $70
  • Ecstasy pills valued at $60

Police arrested 25-year-old Jesse Carter of no fixed address. Carter now faces the following charges:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking -Methamphetamine (Joint)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Oxycodone (Joint)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Gamma Hydroxybutyrate-GHB (Joint)
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon – Conductive Energy Weapon (Joint)
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon – Brass Knuckles (Joint)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Gamma Hydroxybutyrate-GHB
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Oxycodone
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA) (Ecstasy)
  • Possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000

Also charged is Joshua Forbes, a 26-year-old Hamiltonian who is now facing the following charges:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking -Methamphetamine (Joint)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Oxycodone (Joint)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Gamma Hydroxybutyrate-GHB (Joint)
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon – Conductive Energy Weapon (Joint)
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon – Brass Knuckles (Joint)
  • Possession Contrary to Order- Brass Knuckles
  • Possession Contrary to Order- Conductive Energy Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order, Do Not Possess Weapon- Brass Knuckles
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order, Do Not Possess Weapon- Conductive Energy Weapon
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Oxycodone
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Hydromorphone
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
