Top 5 places for Indian food in Hamilton

Published February 6, 2020 at 7:28 pm

In this (seemingly) endless winter we look for anything to provide comfort and warmth! Luckily, Hamilton has a thriving Indian Cuisine scene with full flavours that will thaw you from the inside out.

Let the spiciness keep you warm with one of these Top 5 Indian Food Spots.

5. Bombay Touch

On those days that it’s just too cold to leave the house, Bombay Touch is a great option for delivery. The food arrived quickly and was as warm and delicious as if you had been served it in-house.

Bombay Touch offers various large party options, great for those holidays or family gatherings. You can order trays for 15 to 80 people that contain items such as Mattar Paneer, Mixed Vegetable Korma, and Bhindi Masala. Their online catering allows you to customize various packages for the specific number of guests you have.

This family-run business has two locations: Stoney Creek and Vaughan.

Recommendation: Malai Kofta

4. Alamin Charcoal Flame

Alamin Charcoal Flame is the dream place for all the indecisive people out there. The extensive menu is comprised of traditional Mediterranean and Indian foods. Pardon the list, but here are just a few of the options: Hummus, Fattouh Salad, Greek salad, Shawarma Pita, Charcoal BBQ Chicken Sandwich (made on an actual charcoal grill), Falafel Wrap, Pizza, Steak, Fish, curry, Butter Chicken and more!

You would think with a list that extensive the taste of the food might suffer, but that’s not the case at all. The butter chicken was some of the best I’ve ever had. It had a nice kick to it; the quantity was large, and the staff was friendly (which is a nice bonus!).

Recommendation: Butter Chicken + Rice + Naan

3. Sagarmatha Curry Palace

Don’t be skeptical of having to go into a basement to get to this restaurant. The Lunch Express (Combo of Butter Chicken or Lamb Curry, Chana Masala, Rice, Naan, Salad & Dessert) is great for those who want a little taste of everything for a reasonable price. They have plenty of options for those who are vegan and/or gluten-free.

The overall esthetic, food and staff have landed Sagarmatha Curry Palace in the Top 3 of this Top 5, but I would like to note the service was very slow as they appeared understaffed.

Recommendation: Mix Veg Curry

2. Masala Corner

I’ll admit it … I went into this article with a bias: Masala Corner has long been my favourite Indian Cuisine spot for take-out. Hands down. The Veg/Vegan Dinner Express is only $10.50 and more food than one person can handle. This is everything you get for that price:

  • Palak Paneer or Paneer Makhani,
  • Makhni Vegetable of the day
  • Dal/Chana Masala,
  • Rice and Naan/Roti.
  • Dessert of the day

The staff is amazing, the food is unreal, the service is quick, and you can watch them whip up your food fresh. I’m also willing to say they have the best Vegetable Samosa in Hamilton!

Recommendation: Dinner Special + Samosa

1. India Village Ancaster

India Village wins for overall dine-in Indian Cuisine experience!

The restaurant itself is sleek, clean and perfect for a date night. The staff was amazing and patient as I ordered “whatever paneer you think is best,” kindly explaining the different types and deciding on one perfect for my spice tolerance.

The menu is extensive and contains every curry, paneer, korma and speciality dish you can think of. The portions and taste of each dish are worth every penny.

As a bonus, they offer cooking classes to help you learn to prepare your favourite dishes.

India village has a second Hamilton location at 100 King St W, Dundas.

Recommendation: Shahi Paneer
