A twin tower downtown condo project – one of Hamilton’s biggest developments – is generating plenty of interest in the city, despite the project not being ready for another three years.

Construction on Television City on Jackson Street in the Durand neighbourhood got underway in July, following the demolition of the 40 year-old former home of CHCH-TV.

The $360 million mixed use development will feature two 32-story towers – the original plan was for one of the buildings to rise 40 storeys but was revised after opposition from locals – and more than 600 units in total.

A heritage building that was the home of the television station for many years will be retained.

After some initial blowback on pricing the units are now priced from $353,900 for a bachelor unit on ‘Channel 2’ (second floor) to a 3-bedroom penthouse suite currently on the market for $2,162,900. If you like bargains, there is a 3.5-bedroom unit on offer for ‘just’ $1,817,900.

There are 40 units currently for sale, with the condominium units ranging from 343 sq. ft. to 2,010 sq. ft. in size. Sales of the apartments, being built by architectsAlliance, kicked off last February.

The project will boast a fitness centre, tech centre, pool, kids room and a sky lounge. Some of the penthouse suites feature 10-foot ceilings.
