Tensions in the Middle-East could reverberate in Hamilton, police say

A teen was stabbed near a Hamilton mall last night.

According to Hamilton Police, a group of teenagers were hanging out near Jackson Square around 11 p.m. Dec. 21. An argument began between two of the kids which escalated to violence when the girl was stabbed. She is in stable, non-life-threatening condition.

The suspect fled the area before police arrived. They searched for them with a K-9 unit but came up empty. Investigators have not provided a suspect description.

“Police continue to interview witnesses to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident,” a spokesperson said.

This is the second violent incident in the area in as many months. Back on Nov. 27, a man was stabbed near Park St. and York Blvd. on the north side of the block. A suspect fled the scene and sprinted through the mall. The victim died in hospital. Police later arrested Nathan Kanis-Lynch, 25.

Anyone with information about these attacks can call police at  905-546-4925 or 1-800-222-8477.
