Environment Canada has issued a weather warning for Hamilton today, forecasting strong wind gusts of 90 km/h expected late this afternoon.

“Very strong southwesterly wind gusts of 90 km/h ahead of a cold front are reported over Windsor and Chatham region this afternoon,” Environment Canada reports.

“The strong winds are expected to move eastwards and affect other regions over southwestern Ontario later this afternoon and early this evening.”

The wind gusts are expected to taper off later in the evening.

Residents are advised to take caution, as strong winds can potentially cause damage to buildings (such as roof shingles and windows), toss loose objects, and break tree branches.

Those on the road should be prepared to adjust their driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.
