Three men are in custody on a laundry list of charges after shots rang out in Hamilton on Monday night.

Witnesses reported gunfire and muzzle flashes near where Gage Ave. become Lawrence Rd. shortly after 11 p.m. on Dec. 4. When Hamilton Police responded, they said they found Gianni Paul Deluca, 58, near the scene.

They arrested a searched Deluca and claim they found a small revolver pistol, pepper spray, 72.2 grams of fentanyl and 12.5 grams of cocaine. As a result, Deluca has been charged with numerous offences including two counts of possession for trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime under $5000, six firearm possession charges, and discharging his gun

While investigating the scene, the officers came upon a blood trail leading to a home. There they found two more suspects, Daniel Hanson, 37, and Hayden Scott Ermel, 25. Investigators suspect Hanson and Ermel tried to rob Deluca and the gun went off during a struggle. Ermel was struck in the hand and had to go to the hospital following his arrest.

Hanson is charged with failure to comply with probation, obstruction of a peace officer, robbery with violence and administering a noxious substance. Ermel is charged with the same but also faces a second breach of probation charge. Police also raided the home with a search warrant on Dec. 5 and found two BB guns inside.

Anyone with information about the case can call investigators at 905-546-2907.
