Shots were fired from the sunroof of a moving car in the east end of Hamilton last night.

Police responded to multiple reports of shots fired on Oriole Crescent shortly after 10 p.m. last night (May 26), Hamilton Police said in a press release.

Initial reports indicated the sounds of gunfire were heard, with additional information suggesting shots were being fired into the air from the sunroof of a moving vehicle, police said.

When officers arrived the suspect(s) had already fled the area but there was evidence of gunfire and property damage.

There was damage to vehicles, including shattered windows, and bullet holes in the windows of homes in the area. Shell casings were discovered in various locations, including on the roadway.

Police said the shooting incident occurred from a moving vehicle, last seen travelling north on Oriole Crescent.

No physical injuries were reported to police.

As the investigation unfolds, police are continuing to process the scene and canvass for witnesses and video today.

Police ask residents in the area to review security camera footage from 9:50 p.m. to 10:20 p.m. for any suspicious activity. Police are also asking for dash camera footage from any drivers in the area at that time.
