Drivers face delays at a major road in Hamilton.

The Centennial Parkway is closed from Barton to South Service Road until Aug 22 at 6 p.m.

The parkway will also have lane restrictions between Goderich Road and Arrowsmith Road until 7 p.m. today (Aug. 18) for ongoing construction of the new Confederation GO Station.

The bus route 44 Rymal eastbound and 56 Centennial northbound will detour right on Barton, left on Lake and left on Warrintongton on to the Walmart internal roadway to the regular route, according to the Hamilton Street Railway.

The City announced other road closures and advised motorists to take alternate routes:
  • Locke Street between Hunter Street and Herkimer Street will be closed on Sunday, Aug. 20 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for a street festival.
  • The City of Hamilton said Westover Road will be closed between Sodom Road and Highway 8 for about four months starting Monday, Aug. 21 due to bridge work.
Meanwhile, the Chedoke Stairs will be closed starting Monday, Aug. 21 until Aug. 25 to facilitate lighting repairs. During this period, there won’t be access from the top, bottom or from the Bruce Trail.
