Royal Botanical Gardens’ Winter Wonders adds some holiday magic to Hamilton and Burlington

Hamilton and Burlington residents and visitors from around the Golden Horseshoe can celebrate the magic of the season at the Royal Botanical Gardens’ Winter Wonders, on from November 23 to January 7.

The unique outdoor evening experience at Canada’s largest botanical garden guides visitors along Hendrie Park’s picturesque pathways adorned with festive lights, interactive installations and displays that tell the stories of unique winter wonders.

Visitors can stroll through the garden, located at the Hamilton-Burlington border, with attractions on both sides, to the rhythm of festive music while indulging in the tastes and fragrances of the holiday season.

The six week-plus run of Winter Wonders feature the Botanical Train Display, with planters made from nearly 700 kgs of cedar filled with 2,500 plants creating the backdrop for seven model train lines; the indoor displays at the Breezeway and the brightly lit Mediterranean Gardens; and interactive installations, including the ‘Singing Tree.

Visitors can also dine at the Rock Garden Bistro – located on the Hamilton side – the Turner Pavilion Teahouse in the Rose Garden and the Greenhouse Café.

Winter Wonders is open to the public from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. from:

  • Thursday, November 23 to Saturday, November 25
  • Thursday, November 30 to Sunday, December 3
  • Thursday, December 7 to Sunday, December 10
  • Thursday, December 14 to Sunday, December 17
  • Thursday, December 21 to Saturday, December 23
  • Wednesday, December 27 to Saturday, December 30 p.m.
  • Friday, January 5 to Sunday, January 7

The Royal Botanical Gardens, which encompasses 2,400 acres of gardens and nature sanctuary, will be closed December 24, 25, 26 and 31, as well as January 1.

Winter Wonders tickets are $20 (plus a $1 service fee) for adults and $16 for children 3-12. Infants and toddlers are free and RBG members pay $10.
