Hamiltonians are reporting that they’re finding stickers posted across the city linked to a group that adheres to a white nationalist ideology.

A Reddit user using the handle Whisternefet1, posted a picture of a sticker to the Hamilton feed on Thursday and claimed to have removed “5 of these from the front of SOBI bikes today on Barton. Embarrassing.”

The stickers appear to be advertising the group ID Canada, which claims to be ‘Canada’s leading identitarian movement.’

Hamilton, please do the community a favour and tear any of this racist/anti-immigrant propaganda down if you see it. I removed 5 of these from the front of SOBI bikes today on Barton. Embarrassing. from r/Hamilton

The Identitarian movement or Identitarianism is a post-Second World War European far-right political ideology asserting the right of peoples of European descent to their own culture and territory.

On ID Canada’s website, they say: “ID Canada was created as a response to Canada’s decaying identity, increased third-world immigration and the prevalence of anti-European sentiments in this country.

“We refuse to re-write history and pretend like this nation existed before European colonization. Canada is not a “Nation of immigrants”. The Dominion of Canada was formed by Europeans.”

Since the post was published, Redditors have been chiming in, one saying that they found one of the stickers in Gage Park. Others have been supportive of the original poster’s claims to have removed the offending stickers while some were less sympathetic, referring to the poster as ‘smug.’

“Please do the community a favour and tear any of this racist/anti-immigrant propaganda down if you see it,” Whisternefet1 asks in the post.
