Psychiatric patient unlawfully at large and could pose a threat in Hamilton

Police are looking for a psychiatric patient who is unlawfully at large in Hamilton.

Ray Newell, 43, failed to return to St. Joseph’s Hospital Forensic Psychiatry Unit after being released on a day pass on Monday (May 13), Hamilton Police said in a press release.

Police were notified at 10:20 p.m. that Newell had failed to return.

Newell is now unlawfully at large and wanted on a warrant of committal, police said.

Without medication, Newell may pose a threat to the community and there is concern for his well-being.

Newell is described as a Black man, six-foot-two-inches tall, 215 pounds with a shaved head, a spade tattoo above his left eye, tattoos of a microphone, flower and cards on his left arm, and a tattoo of a mythical creature on his back.

He was last seen wearing a white tank top, jeans, which were hanging low, a black hat worn backward and running shoes.

Newell is known to frequent the Hamilton and Montreal areas.
