Ontario’s police watchdog is appealing to witnesses to an arrest in Hamilton that resulted in a man sustaining injuries to come forward.

The incident in question took place at 9 a.m on Monday (May 4) in the area of Sanford Avenue South and Aikman Avenue in Hamilton’s downtown, a press release from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says.

Hamilton Police were reportedly called to the area to reports of a ‘suspicious vehicle.’

Upon arriving on the scene, officers were said to have located the vehicle in questions which was occupied by two men.

The men were eventually arrested though the nature of their suspected crime(s) has not been disclosed at this point.

During the arrest, it appears that one suspect, a 27-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

As a result, the SIU has assigned three investigators to the case to determine the events that led up to the injury and whether or not criminal charges are warranted.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529, or 647-297-0142.

The Unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
