Police are asking residents to check their surveillance cameras as they investigate a recent shooting in east Hamilton.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, officers received reports of a possible shooting in the area of Julian and Britannia Avenue, near Barton St E at Parkdale Ave N.

“Residents in the area contacted police after hearing what they believed sounded like three gunshots,” police say. “Officers immediately responded and checked the area but did not locate any evidence to support a shooting occurred.”

On Friday, March 20, police returned after a single bullet was found lodged in the front door of a residence.

No injuries have been reported.

With help from witnesses, police have identified the suspect vehicle as a dark-coloured four door sedan that was seen leaving the area, travelling westbound on Britannia Avenue.

The suspect is described as a male with a slim build. He was reportedly wearing dark clothing and light-coloured shoes.

“At this time, police believe this was a targeted shooting,” police say.

Witnesses and anyone with surveillance video footage are asked to contact police at 905-546-2921 or 905-546-2907.
