Police investigate ‘targeted’ shooting in Stoney Creek

Hamilton Police say they are looking for witnesses and asking people to check home security cameras in a Stoney Creek neighbourhood as they investigate a shooting.

On Thursday (Jan. 16) at approximately 8:00 p.m., Hamilton Police received reports of a shooting in the area of Celtic Drive and Carpenter Avenue in Stoney Creek.

Residents in the area reported hearing what sounded like two gunshots. There have been no injuries reported.

Police checked the area and located two large calibre casings on the roadway. A bullet was also found lodged in the front door of a residence.

At this time it appears the shooting was targeted.

Witnesses reported seeing a suspect running south on Celtic Drive and then east on Carpenter Avenue.

This was confirmed by security camera footage.

The suspect is described as being younger and having a slim build. At the time he was spotted, he was wearing dark clothing and a hoodie.
