Police identify victims of fatal shooting in Hamilton

The investigation into a recent shooting and double homicide in Hamilton is ongoing.

Shortly after 5:00am on Sunday, March 8, police received reports of a shooting at Urban Lounge, located in the basement behind Sam’s Tavern on Barton Street East.

Officers found three males and one female suffering from gunshot injuries. One of the males was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the female succumbed to her injuries shortly after.

They have been identified as 39 year old Brantford man Jahmal Thomas (pictured) and 25 year old Hamilton woman Rhonda Homsombath.

Both families are asking for privacy at this time.

Autopsies on the two victims are being conducted, and police say have not yet been able to establish a relationship between any of the victims.

The two other victims, a 39 year old male and 29 year old male, remain in stable condition.

The suspect in this incident is described as a dark-skinned black male with a thin build, approximately 5’10 and possibly in his early 30s. He is believed to have short braids and was wearing dark jeans or pants and a track suit-style zip-up jacket. The suspect fled in an unknown direction after the shooting.

Police say they’ll be at the scene for the remainder of the day. Witnesses and anyone with information that can assist the investigation is asked to call 905-546-3825.
