Police have identified the victim of the city’s 13th homicide this year.

Police have identified the victim of the city’s 13th homicide this year.

A 39-year-old man was found on the road by his wife and a neighbour outside his residence near West 4th Avenue and Richwill Road early Friday morning, December 6.

Police, Hamilton Fire and Hamilton Paramedics attended the scene and the victim was taken to the hospital.

He was pronounced dead just after 7:00 a.m.

Evidence at the scene led investigators to believe the victim died from a targeted shooting, which was confirmed by the victim’s autopsy.

The victim is identified as 39 year old Hamilton man Jeffrey Johnson.

Investigators are currently working on identifying a motive for the shooting.

“Mr. Johnson was not known to the Hamilton Police Service and has no known criminal background,” police say.

“He worked in Hamilton in the stamped concrete business and lived at home with his wife and two young children. Mr. Johnson was shot while leaving his home to go to work.”

Anyone with information that can assist the investigation is asked to call police at 905-546-4067.
