Police identify male teen suspect in daylight shooting near Hamilton daycare

Hamilton police have identified a 15-year-old male suspect Friday (Apr. 26) they say was involved in a shooting outside an east end daycare earlier this week.

The daylight shooting took place just outside a daycare with children present in the area of Grimsby Ave. and Britannia Ave. on Monday (Apr. 22).

Police issued a search warrant at a local address in the east end, leading to the arrest of two adults. An arrest warrant has also been issued for a 15-year-old male youth.

The charges to against the male youth include:

  • careless use of a firearm
  • discharge of a firearm with intent
  • knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • possession of a prohibited firearm
  • reckless discharge of a firearm
  • unauthorized possession of a firearm

Hamilton’s Trevor Tyler Linklater, 35, has been charged with multiple drug trafficking and firearm offenses, including:

  • possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl
  • possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine
  • 10 counts of possession contrary to order
  • 2 counts of fail to comply with probation

Linklater will be held in custody pending a future bail hearing.

Hamilton’s Kayla Shawnte Duvall, 31, is also facing charges related to drug trafficking, including:

  • possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl
  • possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine

Duvall has been released and is scheduled to appear in court. A date has yet to be announced.
