Motorists are advised to make a detour around a major Hamilton street since a section of it is closed for four months.

The City of Hamilton said both Westover Road lanes between Sodom Road and Highway 8 are closed starting Monday, Aug. 21 “in order to safely complete bridge maintenance” such as roadway milling and paving.

The closure is expected to wrap up in December.

The City advises motorists to detour around the closure using Highway 8, Highway 5, Brock Road and Concession Road 5.

“The City of Hamilton thanks motorists, pedestrians and cyclists for their patience as we complete these important infrastructure repairs,” it said in a press release today (Aug. 21).

Meanwhile, the Chedoke Stairs is closed until Aug. 25 to facilitate lighting repairs. During this period, there won’t be access from the top, bottom or from the Bruce Trail.
