McMaster students concerned about a labour disruption interrupting their semester can breathe easy… for now.
A tentative agreement has been reached between Unit 1, Local 3906 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE 3906-1)—the union that represents teaching and research assistants, markers, tutors and demonstrators—earlier today.
The agreement comes just two days after a provincially-appointed mediator was assigned to facilitate negotiations between the two sides.
“We look forward to bringing this agreement before our members so they can have the opportunity to review its contents and vote on whether or not to accept it,” Nathan Todd, chair of CUPE 3906, said in a press release.

The agreement came less than a week before the strike deadline, which was set for November 25 at 12:01 a.m.
A membership meeting and ratification vote is scheduled for early next week, after which, the details will be released.
