McMaster University announced Friday (March 13) that in-person classes will be suspended by the end of the day.

In a series of tweets sent out Friday morning, the school says that in-person exams will also be cancelled.

The school also advised faculty, students and staff to avoid international travel.

“Instructors will let students know by March 18 how the remainder of their coursework will be managed and grades evaluated so they can complete their credits,” a tweet from the school says.

“All discretionary events at the university were cancelled as of March 12, and we strongly encourage everyone at the university to avoid travel outside Canada.”

At the time of publication, InTheHammer wasn’t able to ascertain how long the suspension will be in effect. The University’s COVID-19 website appeared to be down.

Mohawk College still appears to be monitoring the situation before approving class and exam cancellations.
