As we approach three months of quarantine, many people have been trying out different activities and taking up new hobbies in order to amuse themselves.

In addition to attempting to develop new skills, people have also been curating the perfect playlist to set the mood.

A report from Spotify has found the number of subscribers has increased during the pandemic, and people are creating a playlist to enjoy while enjoy all kinds of activities, from gardening, to homeschooling, to painting, to dying their hair, to even cleaning (TLC’s No Scrubs has become a popular addition to cleaning playlists).

In addition to creating the perfect playlist to listen to while doing the dishes, people are also attempting to learn new skills.

Spotify has seen a 125 per cent increase in the number of people streaming the “Just Wanna Quilt” podcast, as well as a 60 per cent increase in people streaming the “WeCrochet” podcast.

The most popular theme for playlists since the pandemic began has to do with work—there has been an increase in people creating a work-from-home-themed podcast, more than 1,400 per cent.

Unsurprisingly, the most popular song among these playlists is Work From Home by Fifth Harmony featuring Ty Dolla $ign, additional songs popular among such playlists include Blinding Lights by the Weeknd, 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton, 10,000 hours by Dan + Shay featuring Justin Bieber, Boss Bitch by Doja Cat, and Delicate by Taylor Swift.

Additionally, podcasts related to homeschooling have also become very popular. The number of people creating podcasts associated with learning has increased by more than 1,000 per cent.

Popular songs for these types of playlists include Supalonely by BENEE and Gus Dapperton, Sucker by the Jonas Brothers, Circles by Post Malone, and Don’t Start Now by Dua Lipa.

Further, since most hair salons and barbershops have been closed during the pandemic, many people have been struggling to deal with their hair. However, it appears they’ve been coping with the addition of music.

The number of people creating playlists inspired by hair maintenance has increased by 50 per cent.

Some popular songs among these playlists include Complicated by Avril Lavigne, Sugar, We’re Goin Down by Fall Out Boy, The Middle by Jimmy Eat World, High Hopes by Panic! At The Disco, Stressed Out by Twenty One Pilots, and Hair Cutter by Animal Collective.
