A 38-year-old man caught with an illegal loaded firearm, ammunition and two pieces of crack cocaine was arrested in Hamilton on Monday, police said.

Hamilton police said Tim Junior Miller, 38, also had a “quantity of cash” when they arrested and charged him on Oct. 30. Police didn’t specify the amount, though Miller is accused of possessing crime proceeds under $5,000.

Miller faces charges such as unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded restricted firearm and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.

Ongoing community complaints led police to patrol the area of King Street East and East Avenue North at about 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 30, police said.

Officers then encountered Miller in an alleyway.

The individual attempted to flee on foot when approached by the officers, resulting in a brief struggle and subsequent arrest,” police said in a press release today (Nov. 1).

Those with information that could help police are asked to contact the Division One Staff Sergeant at 905-546-4725.

“The citizens of Hamilton need to continue to feel safe in their communities and as a community we need to stop gun violence,” police said. “Public safety is a shared responsibility, in which both citizens and police have important roles.”
