Man Charged With Stunt Driving After Going Ridiculous Speeds in Hamilton

A Cambridge man was caught driving at 165km/hr in a posted 70 km/hr zone on Monday evening. His licence was suspended and vehicle seized at the scene. He will appear in court in early October to face the charge of Stunt Driving.
On Monday, September 9, 2019, shortly before 5:30 p.m., a Hamilton Police officer conducting proactive traffic enforcement observed a vehicle travelling southbound on Valens Road approaching Concession 4, Rockton.
The vehicle’s speed appeared to be in excess of the posted speed- 70 km/hr. The officer conducted an investigation into the vehicle‘s speed and confirmed it was travelling at 165 km/hr.

The driver was issued a court summons and is scheduled to appear on Monday, October 7, 2019, to answer to the charge of stunt driving.
In accordance with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, the driver’s licence was immediately suspended for seven days and the vehicle, a 2015 GMC Sierra pick-up truck was seized and will be impounded for the same period of time.
If found guilty in court, the penalties for stunt driving could include a fine between $2000 – $10,000, up to six months in jail and a two-year licence suspension.
