Man arrested for hateful graffiti incident in Hamilton

A Hamilton man is facing charges in connection with recent incidents involving hateful graffiti, police say.

A Hamilton man is facing charges in connection with recent incidents involving hateful graffiti, police say.

Hamilton Police say officers have been investigating recent hateful and biased graffiti incidents in the Claremount Access area.

Police allege that a 40-year-old Hamilton man was caught vandalizing property in the same area on Oct. 17 and that he has been connected to other incidents.

That same day, police conducted surveillance in the area of the James Street stairs.

Police say that at approximately 10:30 p.m., a male matching the description of the suspect believed to be responsible for recent incidents was observed writing on fencing and city property. He was arrested without incident and taken into police custody.

Police have charged Robert Douglas with mischief and failing to comply with probation. 

The accused appeared in court today.
