Man and woman facing charges after firearms seized from Hamilton apartment

On Saturday, July 25, police say they responded to a fail-to-remain domestic incident in which a female victim had a firearm pointed at her and had her vehicle rammed by the suspect’s vehicle.

The suspect fled the scene.

36 year old Shane Murray was later arrested on various firearms-related charges.

On Saturday, August 8, police reportedly received information that two firearms connected to Murray were located at an apartment on 910 Barton Street East.

A search warrant was obtained for the residence. Police say they located and seized a SKS rifle with a loaded magazine with a removed pin containing 14 rounds (762mm) and a sawed-off Remington single-shot shotgun loaded with one round.

29 year old Hamilton man Peter Wasylenko and 37 year old Hamilton woman Sarah Shea were arrested.

The two are charged with Unauthorized Possession of Firearm (two counts), Possession of prohibited Weapon (two counts), Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm/Weapon (two counts), Prohibited Firearm – Loaded/Unloaded, and Careless Use, Carry, Transport, Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Ammunition (two counts).
