A longtime Hamilton business broke ground, Monday (Dec.16), on a new 30,000 sq. ft facilty in Flamborough.

WPE Landscape Equipment (formerly “Windmill Power Equipment”) has called their current Dundas valley facility home, which is 5,000 sq. ft., for years and with this new facility, they will be adding capacity for warehousing and enhanced customer experience.

“WPE’s announcement is a wonderful way to end the year in Flamborough,” said Ward 15 councillor Judi Partridge.

“For many years WPE has been a staple in the business community out here and I am not only excited for their major expansion, but that they have chosen to remain a part of our community.”

WPE says they have chosen their new home in part based on the great growth happening near Highways 5 and 6 and immediate transportation access.

“This is a very big step forward for our company,” said WPE President Vince Borgdorff.

“This investment couldn’t happen without the great team that works with me every day and their supreme efforts to make this business a success. So, the new building will enable them to continue to do their great work and help serve even more of our clientele in modern facilities.”

WPE started out as a one-man show operating out of a garage on King Street in Dundas in 1987.

Today, the company employes 25 people and provides services to clientele spanning the GTHA, and Southwestern Ontario.

“Another significant commercial investment in this area of the city is further proof that growth is happening across Hamilton and I congratulate WPE Landscape Equipment on this major expansion,” said Mayor Fred Eisenberger.
