A popular Locke Street restaurant is reopening their doors this weekend after undergoing an unplanned makeover.

Mattson & Co. will reopen Saturday, Feb. 22 after being closed for a couple of weeks.

Earlier this month, owner and founder Ronn Mattai⁣ announced the unplanned closure of the restaurant as a member of their staff dealt with personal issues.

“We are closed this weekend and are deeply sorry for any inconvenience,” Mattai wrote in an Instagram post from Feb. 7.⁣

“This was not an easy decision for me to make and please know that I, along with the rest of your Mattson family, are doing our very best to welcome you back soon.”

Unfortunately, the former chef, the company says on their website, is unable to return to the eatery.

“Thank you for your continued patience and support,” the website says. “Due to personal issues, our chef will not be returning to Mattson & Co. as we had hoped.”

Mattson announced Wednesday (Feb. 19) that they will be welcoming back customers this weekend and that they will be treated to a new menu created by a new chef on staff.

“We have welcomed a new chef to our team, and together we are busy developing a new menu to launch this weekend. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” an Instagram post from this week says.

Mattson & Co. say they plan to return to regular hours of operation — Tuesdays to Sundays — immediately.
