A Hamilton school was briefly placed on hold-and-secure status yesterday after a teen brought a BB gun onto the property.
Police responded to a report of a firearm at Sherwood Secondary School, at 75 Palmer Rd., around noon, Hamilton Police told intheHammer.
A 14-year-old girl entered the school with a BB gun and confronted a 17-year-old female student from Sherwood Secondary School, police said.
Staff at the school were able to take the BB gun from the teen, but she then grabbed a metal pole and attempted to strike the other student, police said.
Police arrived within minutes of the report and took a teenage girl into custody.
The 14-year-old is not a Sherwood Secondary School student, police added.
Sherwood went into the hold-and-secure from around 12:05 p.m. to approximately 12:15 p.m.
