Borderline heat warning criteria are expected to be reached again in Hamilton today, according to a statement from Environment Canada.

Borderline heat warning criteria are expected to be reached again in Hamilton today, according to a statement from Environment Canada.

A high of 31 degrees Celsius is in the forecast this afternoon, feeling more like 38 degrees Celsius with the humidity. There’s also the chance of a thunderstorm late this afternoon.

“Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can cause the air quality health index to approach the high risk category,” says Environment Canada.

“The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.”

Increased cloud cover on Monday will reduce maximum temperatures to below the heat warning criteria, but it’s expected to remain humid until a cold front arrives on Tuesday.
