Hamilton’s iconic pizza provider is reopening next week

Is there anything more Hamilton than a slab of Roma Pizza? It’s pretty much the comfort food of anyone who calls Hamilton home.

Is there anything more Hamilton than a slab of Roma Pizza? It’s pretty much the comfort food of anyone who calls Hamilton home.

Which is why Roma’s absence has been sorely felt these past few months in quarantine.

Therefore, it should hearten many Hamiltonians to learn that Roma will be back in business next week.

On Thursday (May 28), Roma Bakery announced via social media that they will be reopening the bakery on Barton Street and delivering their slabs to grocery stores once again, after being closed for two months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Although Ontario has a long way to go, our lives with social distancing has become the new normal,” their Instagram post said.

“With the correct parameters in place and with the public educated on how to social distance properly, we decided to re-open our doors as of ‪Tuesday, June 2nd.‬”

COVID-19 Update: We're opening our doors ‪on June 2nd!‬ It has been just over two months since we decided to temporarily close our doors to ensure the safety of our customers and team. With the correct parameters in place and with the public educated on how to social distance properly, we decided to re-open our doors as of ‪Tuesday, June 2nd.‬ Everything COVID-19 related is new for us all so we do ask for your continued patience and understanding as learn with each day. The post explains that at their bakery they will only be allowing 5 to 6 customers in at a time and there will be directional arrows to guide patrons through the store.

Curbside pickup will also be available for those who want to get their Roma fix but who are not comfortable attending the store yet.

“Everything COVID-19 related is new for us all so we do ask for your continued patience and understanding as we learn with each day,” the post urges.

All products will be pre-bagged and wrapped and they will be open to the public from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 8 to 5.

Judging from social media, there will be some lineups to get at the city’s most beloved pizza as many have expressed their desire to indulge immediately.

In the meantime, the Roma team seems pretty excited to be back in action after the uncertainty of the past few months.

“To our team, we cannot wait to see you and roll up our sleeves to bring our products back to the Hamilton community,” Roma says in the post.

“To our peers in the Hamilton small business community, whether you are open or closed, we stand with you.”
