The Hamilton soccer club clinched a spot in the championship with a 1-0 Group Stage win over the team they beat to win the inaugural CPL Championship in 2019, Cavalry FC.

Five-weeks after signing with Forge from Toronto FC of Major League Soccer, Mo Babouli scored the matches only tally. Captain Kyle Bekker assisted on the winning goal and earned an inadvertent punch to the face for his efforts.

Forge FC will face HFX Wanderers FC for the North Star Shield on Sept. 19. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Charlottetown, PEI.

The winner will also earn a 2021 CONCACAF League berth.

With the start of the 2020 season derailed due to COVID-19, the CPL announced that Charlottetown would act as the sole hub city when the league returned for its second-ever season on Aug 13, 2020.

The Island Games featured a 28-game season between the eight Canadian Premier League clubs. The top four teams then moved on to the Group Stage where each team played each other once.

HFX Wanderers have one more match remaining Tuesday night (Sept. 15) against Pacific FC but HFX and Forge are guaranteed to finish in the top two, regardless of the outcome of the last game.
