The Weather Network has issued a special weather statement for Hamilton for Wednesday (Nov. 27) afternoon.

It says strong southwesterly wind gusts are expected throughout the afternoon.

Winds gusting 70 to 80 km/h are expected to develop late Wednesday morning or early Wednesday afternoon and persist into the evening, the warning says.

There is also the possibility of stronger wind gusts near 90 km/h in the afternoon.

Winds will slowly ease Wednesday evening.

Strong winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Power outages are also possible.

These strong winds are the result of a low-pressure system moving over Lake Huron and Georgian Bay late Wednesday.
