Hamilton woman charged with pretending to be PSW and entering seniors’ homes

A 54-year-old woman from Stoney Creek is facing multiple charges after allegedly pretending to be a Personal Support Worker (PSW) and gaining entry into seniors’ residences.

A 54-year-old woman from Stoney Creek is facing multiple charges after allegedly pretending to be a Personal Support Worker (PSW) and gaining entry into seniors’ residences.

On Sept. 8, police say Mary Clowana Ryan pretended to be a PSW and entered two seniors’ residences in the Queenston and Nash Rd N area.

At one of the residences, the suspect allegedly took credit cards and jewelry belonging to the occupant.

No injuries were reported to police.

On Wednesday (Sept. 16), the suspect was located and arrested without incident. She was taken into police custody and held for a bail hearing.

Mary CLowana Ryan is charged with:

  • Theft over $5000
  • Theft under $5000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Unlawfully in a dwelling
  • Trafficking property under $5000

Detectives believe there may be other victims who have not yet come forward.
