Hamilton widow issues plea for information into husband’s brutal murder

Instead of celebrating, his widow, Christine Garrett-Johnson, continues to search for answers in his brutal slaying outside their home one frigid morning exactly eight months ago.
Early on December 6, 2019, Johnson was found by his wife and a neighbour on the road outside his home near West 4th Avenue and Richwell Road suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was rushed to hospital by paramedics, but succumbed to his injuries a short time later, leaving behind his wife and two young children.

He was just 39 years old at the time of his death.
Since then, Christine and her family have struggled to come to terms with the void Jeff’s death has left and to understand why they’ve all been plunged into this nightmare.
“We were supposed to be living our lives buying a house and being totally in love,” Christine told InTheHammer.
“His kids miss him so incredibly much it is hard to breathe each and every single day.”
Johnson worked for a stamped concrete company and was shot while leaving for work that day in December.
Hamilton Police have, so far, determined that Jeff’s murder was targetted but they cannot determine why.
“Jeff was not involved in any criminal subculture,” Det. Sgt. Steve Bereziuk said at a news conference in January.
Police say there is also no evidence of any recent extramarital affairs or financial gain by his death.
In the months since Jeff’s brutal slaying, police have repeatedly issued calls for information related to the shooting but have yet to come up with answers.
In January, police released images and video of a car they believe was involved.
Christine, in the meantime, said she plans to honour her husband’s memory on what would be their wedding anniversary by reissuing a plea for information into her husband’s senseless death.
“The date is a blessing and a curse,” she said.
“This man is everything to me and I will not stop until this person(s) are brought to justice and pay for the horrible act that took this loving, caring, amazing person away from us all for no reason at all.”
Jeff’s loved ones have launched a public Facebook page to allow friends and family to share their memories and love for the man so cruelly ripped from this world. They encourage members of the community to reach out to show their support or to follow the page for updates in his case.
“We all need some sort of help in these times and wish that something can come out of this group for any kind of help in finding out some answers,” Christine writes on the page.
“Please don’t be shy. Please send some healing to our family. Jeff deserves this and so do his children and everyone that loves him so, so much.”
Christine also urges anyone with information that may assist police in the investigation to come forward.
“The detectives are still doing a great job but there are no answers as of yet and no one caught,” she said.
