The Hamilton Public Library (HPL) is providing support for the battle against COVID-19 by making personal protective equipment for front-line workers and they’re calling on others to join in the effort.
“The 4th Floor of Central Library is abuzz with the sound of 20 3D printers creating face shields, face shield frames and ear savers to protect front-line workers batting COVID-19,” HPL says on their website.
The effort is being undertaken in partnership between the City of Hamilton, Hamilton Public Library, Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and Innovation Factory, who have all provided 3D printers.
Shop3D is also providing support for this true community effort by providing laser cutting services.
Given the scale of the demand for PPE, the Hamilton 3D Printing Collaboration could use all the help it can get.

So, if you have a 3D printer, you too could help contribute to these efforts.
HPL provides a set of guidelines and answers to FAQs for those looking to contribute their time, energy and resources to this initiative on their website.
Those who want to help, can download templates and start printing. The finished product can then be dropped off at the Central Library in downtown Hamilton.
