Hamilton Police issue arrest warrant for man considered armed and dangerous

Hamilton Police Services (HPS) have issued an arrest warrant for Jamie Dryden, of no fixed address.

On the evening of January 31, HPS responded to a call to the area of Barton Street East and Ottawa Street North in relation to a suspicious man. 

When officers arrived, Dryen fled on foot as HPS gave chase. Suddenly, Dryen turned and opened fired at the responding officers. 

Later, during the chase, he took a woman hostage and used her as a human shield to prevent officers from getting close enough to apprehend him. 

Today, HPS discovered the suspect’s identity, and he’s wanted for: 

  • Discharge Firearm with Intent
  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm
  • Break and Enter
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Various Firearms Offences

Dryden is described as armed and dangerous, and he’s highly transient.
