A Hamilton man is in hospital after being assaulted Monday (Sept. 23) night.

Hamilton police were called to an area near Gainsborough and Keats roads just before midnight to reports of an assault.
When police arrived, they say they found a man in his 20s with injuries to his face. He was transported to a local hospital and his injuries are considered non-life threatening.

The victim, police say, is not cooperating with the investigation.
Police say a medical assessment of the victim found that his injuries were not sustained as the result of gunfire.
