Hamilton Police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection to a fire set on the patio of The Mule Restaurant in the city’s downtown.

Hamilton Police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection to a fire set on the patio of The Mule Restaurant in the city’s downtown.

Last Saturday (April 25), shortly before 11:00 p.m., police say the General Manager of The Mule Restaurant on King William Street in Hamilton was contacted about an outside patio fire.

The restaurant surveillance camera captured footage of a man pouring a flammable liquid onto a wood serving table and igniting a wall planter.

The man was then seen walking southbound on Hughson Street North towards King William Street.

A delivery driver from a nearby business was in the area when he noticed the fire and extinguished it with water. The fire caused minor damage to the property.

The arson investigation led police to the arrest of Shawn Murray on Wednesday (April 29). Murray was brought into custody and later released. He is expected to appear in court on June 30, 2020

Murray is facing a charge of arson.
