A Hamilton man is facing charges in a recent theft investigation.

The incident happened shortly before midnight on Sunday, September 15, when witnesses observed a damaged grey Honda Civic parked in the area of King Street East and Rosedale Avenue.

“At the time a male was rummaging through the cabin and then walked away with items from the vehicle,” police say. “His picture was taken and one witness left to locate the owner.”

Using the suspect’s photo and some received information on his last known whereabouts, police were able to locate the suspect a couple of blocks away.

The 48 year old Hamilton man was searched and found in possession of the items, police say. Police also state he was bound by three probation orders which he was violating.

He has been arrested and charged with theft under $5000, possession of stolen property under $5000, mischief under $5000, and three counts of failing to comply with probation.

The accused will appear in court today (September 16) to answer to the charges.
