Hamilton man charged after allegedly firing pellet gun at police officers

A 29-year-old Stoney Creek man is facing a number of charges after allegedly firing a pellet gun at Hamilton Police officers over the weekend.

A 29-year-old Stoney Creek man is facing a number of charges after allegedly firing a pellet gun at Hamilton Police officers over the weekend.

On Sunday, shortly before 5:30 p.m., Hamilton Police say they responded to the area of the Redhill Valley Parkway and Dartnall Road to reports of a suspicious vehicle being driven erratically.

A short time later, officers located the vehicle operator walking westbound on Stonechurch Road East at Dartnall Road.

As officers approached, the man reportedly fired two shots from a firearm in their direction. The officers were able to verbally deescalate the situation and the man discarded the firearm. He was arrested and taken to a local hospital where he was medically cleared.

No one was injured in the incident.

Through investigation, police confirmed the firearm was a pellet gun.

The man is scheduled to appear in court on Monday (March 30). He will be answering to several criminal charges:

  • Point firearm X3
  • Weapons dangerous
  • Use firearm in the commission of an offence
  • Dangerous driving
