Hamilton Health Sciences is implementing additional screening measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19


Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) has announced it will be implementing stricter measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. 

As of 6 a.m. on March 19, HHS will be limiting the number of entrances people will be able to use to enter and exit its buildings (additional screening measures will begin at 8 a.m. on March 18 for Juravinski Cancer Centre). 

Additionally, both patients and visitors attempting to enter the building will be tested and screened for the virus. 

As part of the screening process, all patients and visitors will be asked: 

  • Do you have a fever and new worsening cough, or shortness of breath?
  • Have you travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days?
  • Have you been in contact with someone who is sick and had travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days?

Further, employees and physicians will enter through a separate entrance exclusively for staff. 

The following entrances will be open to patients and visitors: 

Hamilton General Hospital

  • Main Entrance
  • Regional Rehab
  • Parking Level F

Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre

  • Main Entrance
  • Juravinski Cancer Centre main entrance (starting Mar. 18 at 8 a.m.)
  • Emergency Department

McMaster University Medical Centre

  • Main Entrance
  • Emergency Department
  • Yellow Parking Level Vestibule

St. Peter's Hospital

  • South Entrance

West Lincoln Memorial Hospital

  • Main Entrance
