A Hamilton grandmother is planning to spoil her grandchildren with her recent lottery winnings.

Saying ‘yes’ to Encore paid off big for Linda Bagley of Hamilton. Bagley matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order in the May 26, 2020, Lotto Max draw to win $100,000.

Bagley, a 62-year-old retired accounts receivable analyst, and her sister checked their tickets at the same time.

“My sister said that she didn’t win anything, and I said, ‘Well I did!’” Bagley said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her cheque.

“My sister didn’t believe me but when she saw my screen, she knew I wasn’t kidding.”

The mother and grandmother said she plans to pay some bills and take her grandchildren shopping. She isn’t sure what she wants for herself yet.

“I’ll know how to treat myself when I see it,” she added.

“I wouldn’t trade this feeling for anything in the world. I’ve been a single mom for 29 years and there’s so much I’ve had to worry about. This win gives me peace of mind and room to be in the moment and not worry about daily life and the pressure that comes with it,” she said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Starsky Fine Foods on Queenston Road in East Hamilton.

The OLG Prize Centre in Toronto has resumed in-person prize claims for winning-ticket holders of $50,000 or more by appointment only.
