Well friends some of you have already heard but as of the end of this coming weekend the Hilltop Express will be passing the torch on to another Greek take out restaurant in its location. We would like to thank all of our amazing customers who have supported us over the past 5+ years. To this day our store was more successful than we could ever have imagined. We also cannot thank you all enough for the overwhelming support throughout the pandemic. For this reason it may not make sense selling but it’s finally time to spend more time with our young growing boys. Of course to our dedicated staff we cannot thank you enough for all the hard work you put in over the years. You as well as our customers will definitely be missed. We would like to offer our best wishes to Alexandros Take-Out who for the first time in 23 years of business will be opening a location in Hamilton. Once again Hilltop friends thank you all very much. We can never ever thank you enough

The first Hilltop location was opened in the late 70s at the Mountain Plaza Mall, according to their website.

They served up traditional breakfast and diner fare but became known for their Greek cuisine served to customers as though they were part of the family.

Their catering business picked up steam over the years and has remained part of the business model through a series of significant changes.

In 2009, Mountain Plaza Mall was redeveloped and Hilltop, after three decades at that location, was forced to close its doors.

Years passed and the owners, the Spyridonakos family, grew restless.

Six years after closing their location at Mountain Plaza Mall, the family opened another, much smaller location on Upper James (just past Stonechurch) for take-out.

And now, the owners of the Hilltop plan to pass the baton to Alexandros Take-Out, an eatery established in Toronto’s Greek Town more than 20 years ago and known for their ‘world-famous gyros.’

This will be Alexandros’ first foray outside of Toronto.
